Description
Salmson S4-61L
One of the last examples built by Automobiles Salmson
The “L” stands for “luxury” with hydraulically operated brakes instead of cables.
Ahead of its time:
A 1, 750 cc double overhead cam engine, whose origins go back to the 1930s. Salmson was an aircraft manufacturer for the First World War, then turned to refined and luxurious modern cars for its era.
Equipped with the magnificent Cotal four-speed gearbox, front and rear.
Precise, smooth rack-and-pinion steering with the steering wheel on the right only.
A very complete dashboard, fitted with a clock and speedometer, then an ammeter, oil pressure gauge, fuel gauge and finally a temperature gauge.
Four doors opening with no central pillar.
Interior, seats, headlining and carpets in superb red velour, wood trim in good condition, glazing, etc.
The former owner, a professional mechanic, had rebuilt the mechanics and the paint, with the upholstery entrusted to an artisan.
The Salmson is in excellent overall condition, shod with Michelin Pilots and ready to drive. Everything works.
Recent work includes a high-capacity battery, an electric fuel pump and an exhaust silencer.
Documentation and some parts supplied with the car.
It is very beautiful with its sensuous wing shapes, artillery wheels and its 76 years soon.
Serious and genuine enquiries only, please.
