Highly sought-after second-generation 997 Turbo S
THE 997. 2 TURBO S
The Type 997 – introduced in 2004 – represented more of an evolution than a revolution, with the most notable changes relating to exterior and interior styling. The traditional oval headlights returned, and the cockpit adopted a more classic aesthetic than that of the outgoing 996. The base 3. 6-litre engine remained similar to the 996, while the 'S' versions benefited from a more powerful 3. 8 litres. The Turbo still used the 3. 6 litres, now equipped with VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) turbos for better response. A new all-wheel-drive system, similar to the Cayenne’s, also made its appearance. As is often the case with modern automatics, Tiptronic allowed a quicker start from a standstill than the manual: 0–100 km/ h in 3. 7 s vs 3. 9 s.
In 2010, the Turbo adopted the 3. 8-litre engine developing 500 hp. Top speed remains unchanged at around 311 km/ h, but equipped with the seven-speed PDK and the Sport Chrono Plus pack, it does 0–100 km/ h in just 3. 1 s, reaching 100 mph 3. 8 s later. Even today, few cars rival these performances. The Turbo S, introduced in 2010, comes fully equipped with PDK, sport exhaust, revised turbos and an impressive 530 hp.
OUR 997. 2 TURBO S
The Turbo S Coupe shown here was delivered new in Sweden and purchased by its first owner in March 2012. Finished in Meteor Grey Metallic with a black leather interior and Sport Chrono Pack, this Turbo S represents a true engineering masterwork.
It offers ultimate performance, blistering acceleration and a captivating driving experience. If one were looking to chase the best possible driving experience, one would stop in 2010, with the Turbo S. Add to that exemplary reliability and versatility, and you get arguably the most engaging Porsche ever built.
The 19" RS Spyder forged wheels are shod with 2018 Bridgestone tyres. Braking is provided by Porsche six- and four-piston calipers with ceramic discs.
The interior includes electrically adjustable sport seats in black leather, extending across the dash, centre console and door panels. Equipment: heated seats, Porsche Communication Management with navigation, Bose audio, automatic climate control and cruise control.
Delivered new by Porsche Centre Stockholm, the car received its major service in May 2024 at Porsche Centre West-Flanders and has only 47, 000 km on the odometer since new. The Porsche Approved warranty has also been extended. It is sold with its service booklet, full history and its two keys.
The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel is equipped with paddles and frames a central tachometer, a 350 km/ h speedometer, and gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel level. The Sport Chrono Pack adds a stopwatch at the top of the dash. The digital odometer shows just under 47, 000 km, with around 2, 500 km under the current ownership.
With the 997. 2 generation currently highly sought-after and values rising, the Turbo S offers the perfect balance between analogue feel and modern performance. Still remarkably fast today, it embodies everything enthusiasts love in a true driver’s Porsche. An opportunity not to be missed.
