2022 – Car & Classic Video Roundup

It’s been a busy year for us here at Car & Classic. Not only have we been the leading site for selling your classic, specialist or unique vehicle, we have also continued to build our massive content base. With daily articles posted here on the magazine side of the site, we have your desire to read more than covered. But that’s not all; we know you like to see your pictures in a moving format, which is why we went ‘all in’ earlier in the year with our video content, prompting this video roundup.

video roundup, motoring, automotive, car ad classic, carandclassic.com, car and classic auctions, retro car, classic car, project car, rover, rover 800, ford, ford capri, ivan dutton, shed racing, bentley, bicester, bicester scramble, retro, classic, classic car video, classic car youtube,

We covered all kinds of stuff, and we’re going to look back over five of our favourite videos here. From the everyday to the exotic, pre-war to modern classics, we’ve covered it all. And the best bit is that we’re just getting started. We have much, much more video content planned for 2023, and we’re incredibly excited to bring you along for the ride. Until then, here are five of our favourites from the last 12 months. But this video roundup isn’t everything – be sure to check out the Car & Classic TV YouTube channel, too.

1) Project 827 – Hedge Find Manager

It’s no secret that you lot, as well as us, like a project car. There is nothing more exciting (nor scary) than digging a once forgotten relic out of its resting place with a view to returning it to the road. That’s exactly what we did when we found an incredible 19,017 mile 1989 Rover 827. Off the road for over two decades, it was a gamble, but one that paid off. Join us in episode one as we dig it out of its resting place, and make sure you watch the following episodes to see how the project came together.

2) By Royal Appointment – Platinum Jubilee

We get asked to be involved with all sorts of things here at Car & Classic, so when the Royal estate asked us to pull together a car for every year of the Queen’s reign, we were more than happy to oblige. It was a big undertaking, but as you’ll see from the second entry into this video roundup, it was worth the effort. With cars from every British manufacturer spanning from 1952 to 2022, it was a spectacular coming together of motors. And it’s not often you see an Allegro and a DeLorean at the same event!

3) Bentley at Brooklands

You could be forgiven for thinking that a car on the brink of being a century old might be best suited to a nice, warm museum. Or at the very least, it should be used sparingly. We, however, beg to differ. Cars are machines. They don’t know how old they are. They do need to be used though. A static, silent machine is no longer a machine – it instead becomes pointless. Use is the key to their longevity, which is what we set to prove by taking our own 1925 Bentley to the historic Brooklands for a jolly good thrashing.

4) Ivan the Brilliant

If there is one thing the classic car world has in abundance, other than, you know, classic cars, it’s characters. However, there is one who perhaps stands out above the rest, and he goes by the name of Ivan Dutton. He’s in his ’80s, but nobody seems to have told him, as he is as giddy as a teenager and possesses just as much energy. His stories, his enthusiasm for all things internal combustion and his utterly insatiable appetite for engineering make him one of the greats. So great, in fact, that we had to make it a two-parter, so don’t miss the link at the end!

5) The video you always promised yourself

Finally in this video roundup, we have five reasons why you need to buy a Ford Capri. It’s one of the most searched for cars on the entire site, so it made sense to explain why you should buy one. No boring buying guide stuff though, instead our Capri-loving (and past owning) Chris Pollitt explains the reasons that matter. After watching this, you will be searching through the adverts to find your own Ford Capri. And rightly so, because it is one of the greatest classic cars out there. Enjoy!
