Autoglym Super Resin Polish – Product Review

It’s amazing what difference a little polish can make to a car’s paintwork. From removing hazing and scratches to giving the whole body a deep lustre that can lift even the most dowdy of paint jobs. It’s beauty treatment for your classic, like treating your significant other to a spa day, but at a fraction of the cost. But with so many options and manufacturers it’s difficult to know which product to pick when it comes to keeping your classic’s paintwork all shiny. Luckily, that’s where Car & Classic comes in as we test one such option – the Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

With our product review series we practice what we preach and actually use the stuff we talk about in real world situations, giving you our honest and expert opinion. We live and breath classics and own quite a few between us so we are the exact target audience when it comes to the bits and pieces we use and review. We don’t get any back-handers, we’re not sycophantic, we’re simply classic vehicle enthusiasts that have a need for these types of products, including this Super Resin Polish.

The Product

We’ve already spoken of our fondness for Autoglym here at Car & Classic. We’ve used them for years because they simply make great products. Of course we augment them with other manufacturer’s wares but they have been a staple in our cleaning arsenal for decades. One of which is the award-winning Super Resin Polish. This stuff will remove minor scuffs and scratches whilst also restoring a deep gloss to all types of paintwork and provides a highly protective barrier to environmental contaminants and weather conditions. Easy to apply and buff off it’s perfect for all types of paintwork, whether that be a brand new spray job or ratty old bangers and we’ve successfully used it on both.

The Test

We recently decided to give our Volvo 940 turbo estate a little cosmetic consideration. Having never actually polished the thing in the three years we’ve owned it we thought it was about time to try and bring back some of its original shine. Following a full going over with a clay bar (yes, we will be reviewing this in the future) we broke out the Autoglym Super Resin Polish and set to work, paying particular attention to the driver’s door whereby the area under the handle had become rather scratched, as is habitually the case. Go and take a look at your own door. Chances are it’s in a similar state and you’ll see what we mean.

The Result

Using a standard polishing cloth the product is easy to apply and goes on evenly. We took care not to get any on the glass or plastic trim as this will need to be removed ASAP and after allowing the polish to dry it was buffed off with a clean microfibre towel and we could instantly see the lustre of the paint return. As for the aforementioned area we had to apply a little more pressure but the results were outstanding. All of the scratches were completely removed and the paint looked brand new.

The Verdict – 5 out of 5

The sheer amount of positive reviews this stuff has online is testament to its quality and we can wholeheartedly attest to those affirmations. We’re working through a 500ml bottle at the moment which you can currently pick up for just over a tenner and that’s a bargain in anyone’s books. A little goes a long way too but there are other sizes available should you wish. It’s a great polish and while it’s far less abrasive than a dedicated cutting compound it can still be used to great effect when it comes to removing scratches. Trust us – just look at the pictures. Get some, you won’t be disappointed.
