The boys are back in town ladies and gentlemen. Well, when we say boys we mean a couple of middle aged men and when we say town we’re referring to the industrial unit that we keep them locked up in until we’re ready to film another episode of our popular SOLD! series. Yep, the time has once again come to untie them and remove their gags for half an hour to let them wax lyrical about some of the wonderful vehicles that have passed through our auction platform here at Car & Classic, going on to find new homes with appreciative owners. It’s what we do. We make you classic dreams come true so let’s dive into the latest episode of SOLD! and see which bevy of beauties the pair have picked this time.

Right off the bat, Monsieur Brunning sets the bar rather high with a delightful French fancy in the form of this beautiful 1972 Citroën SM. We love the SM here at Car & Classic and it’s a strong choice with which to kick off the episode.

With its futuristic (for the time) styling, coupled with that fantastic 2.7-litre Maserati V6 engine under the long, elegant bonnet the SM is Citroën at it’s unorthodox, eccentric best. From the hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension down to that wonderful single spoke steering wheel what’s not to like? Whomever bought it their €38,500 were well spent.

Speaking of futuristic design Richard’s SOLD! partner in crime Chris Pollitt decided to go with a time travelling legend for his first choice. Of course the DeLorean DMC-12 can’t actually travel through time but thanks to its appearance in the Back to the Future trilogy of movies it will forever be immortalised as such. Pretty rubbish as an actual car to be fair, it transcends mere plastic and metal to take its place as a true pop culture icon and damn, does it still look amazing. This 1982 left-hand drive minter sold for £53,000. What would the equivalent price be in 1985 we wonder… One of, if not the most famous movie cars ever.

Second choices from the boys included a particularly lovely, low mileage 1974 Lancia Fulvia Monte Carlo complete with Nardi wheel and yellow driving lights picked by Richard and a rather less lovely 1972 Ford Cortina GT project that’s, shall we say, a little worse for wear. Moving swiftly on now but you can head over to the video to hear Chris’ reasoning behind this one. We’re sure there is at least some semblance of logic to his decision.

Rounding things out this week and Brunning’s third and final choice this time round is a bit of a muscle car legend. In 1971 horsepower still reigned king, before the oil crisis put the kibosh on such frivolities, and this Chevy Nova Coupé in original spec is up there with the best of them. This one hasn’t been Death Proofed although it’s the same model as the car used in Quentin Tarantino’s road movie, just a year younger, so if you wanted to pay homage to Stuntman Mike’s matt black ride it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch although personally we think this is too nice an example to mess with. Someone got a lot of car when they secured this beauty for just £23,000. Hats off. It’s a incredibly cool car that provides a fitting full stop to this particular episode.

Which one was your favourite? From tired old Fords in need of a rather large helping of TLC, to culturally significant ’80s icons and muscle car royalty this episode exemplifies what it is we do here at Car & Classic and all of the tastes and budgets we cater for. So head on over to the auction site and start looking for your next classic. Who knows, we might even feature it on an upcoming episode of SOLD!
