The Appeal
Flowing lines, elegant proportions and a big aspiration brought the Triumph 2000 Roadster to the market. The Standard Motor Company had noticed Jaguar's line of sports cars, using their engine blocks, and figured they were well worthy of giving it a shot. Work began at the close of the Second World War. The first launched with a 1.8-litre engine, then a 2.0-litre in 1948. They became big hits, even if they were somewhat anachronistic looking.
This particular 1949 example's handsome looks led to it being featured in the popular TV series 'Bergerac'. It's been very well cared for throughout the 21st century, backed by an impressive collection of invoices and plenty of recorded work that has kept the car at its best. It's a real winner - with a handsome retrim, impressive period looks and a certain spot of post-war luxury that's impossible to ignore.
