The Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire is a large automobile which was produced by the British company, Armstrong Siddeley Motors Limited, from 1952 to 1960. 

A distinctive element of the Sapphires was the traditional Armstrong Siddeley V-shaped radiator grille with the Sphinx motif mounted on it. 

The company also went on to building aeroplanes which were very popular and sought after in the aerospace industry at that time.

The present owner purchased the car 17 years ago from a local gentleman in Peebles. The present owner has a lot of history with the car, as he owned a garage that serviced and repaired the car going back till the 1970s. The car always generates a lot of interest in the town, and when its being driven along the High Street, many stop, smile and wave, as the car drives by! On special occasions the car was used for family and friends Weddings, and always made a lasting memory of the day. 

The V5 is present and correct along with the original log book and paperwork. There is also an original Armstrong Siddeley service manual and workshop manual present which are very hard to come by, together with a record of old MOT certificates and receipts.

The interior is all original and untouched. The walnut dashboard and trim all round is in beautiful condition. The Wilton carpets are also in very good condition. The smell of leather and originality is wonderful. The car has an automatic transmission gearbox, and has the gear shift lever located to the left hand side of the original large steering wheel. The dash area shows the instrument panel with mileage etc. Odometer displays mileage but can be temperamental.

The coachwork-paintwork is of the highest standard with no dents, scratches apart from two very small dings on the rear boot. This is only noticeable from certain angles and really not a big issue at all. If the new owner desires, a painless dent repair would easily remedy the issue.
The car looks fantastic with the front grille supporting the Armstrong badges. 

On the front bulkhead there is some very light rust needing attention, but this does not detract from the overall look of the car. The chrome is in lovely condition, however on close inspection there is some light pitting on certain areas. The wheels are fitted with 4, 670 x 16 six ply tyres, this helps with steering as radial tyres would be much heavier as the car doesn’t have power steering. There is also a tow bar fitted to the car.

The 3435cc engine starts immediately. The engine is mechanically sound and holds the oil pressure very well. The engine bay is sound and dry and is well presented. The underside is in fantastic condition with very little corrosion as you will see from the photographs. In future, there will be areas that require attention

A wonderful opportunity to purchase an elegant piece of history. This Iconic Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346, is a stylish piece of British craftsmanship from a bygone era, but still looks both elegant and luxurious.
 
Simple to maintain - a sound investment - and a delight to drive. Will sadly be missed by the current owner!
