The Appeal

Some cars are just unbelievably cool. This is one of them. It's exactly the kind of car you'd imagine a Porsche 356 enthusiast driving in the early 60s: this is the Volkswagen Beetle 'oval', sitting on a magnificent set of authentic 1960 Kronnprinz KPZ Porsche wheels, shod with period-style Heidenau 5-60x15 tyres.

It has also been subtly lowered at the front, which traditionally sits high due to the location of the engine at the rear.

Apart from that, this is a particularly original example of the marque, with matching numbers confirmed by the Volkswagen Museum, including the original 'split case' gearbox. Original wheels accompany the car should the next owner wish to fit them.

The seller tells us:

"This Beetle was delivered new to Sweden in December 1956. It was found in Belgium in the 2010s, until I bought it in 2024. The Belgian documents are still there. The car is accompanied by the latest parts and labour invoices from the garage, its technical inspection and its FFVE collector's certificate.

The car had a full service in April 2024, including a new braking system, redone pivots, ride height adjustment, rear blades, geometry, and oil changes. (€1,657 spent)."

Having undergone a complete mechanical overhaul in 2024, this Beetle is ready to hit the road with confidence. It is now exempt from French MOT, registered with a Carte Grise de Collection.

For air-cooling enthusiasts, an 'Oval' Beetle is always a great find - especially an example of matching numbers like this with discreet (and easily reversible) period upgrades.
