The Appeal
The Lambretta Li 150 Series I is one of the most recognisable Italian scooters of the late 1950s, combining elegant Innocenti styling with a more modern engineering layout than its predecessors. Produced for a relatively short period, the Series I introduced important developments including a tubular frame, chain drive and 10-inch wheels, helping to establish the character and usability that would define later Lambretta models.
DEX 183 is especially appealing for its long and continuous family history. Acquired by the seller’s father in 1962, it was first used for commuting before later serving as transport between the seller’s Norfolk home and Birmingham University. It was restored in 2010 with the aim of preserving its original character where possible, while sensibly incorporating a brake light, which the seller notes was not fitted from new.
The scooter is also equipped with a colour-matched Craven Equipment top box the original spare wheel holder is still available, providing useful storage and a mounting point for the spare wheel. Since restoration, it has been ridden on various annual events, including the Scooter Collective Easter Egg Run, where it won first place, as well as a trip to Spain for the Euro Lambretta Club Jamboree.
Having remained in single family ownership for more than six decades, this Li 150 offers a rare combination of period charm, long-term provenance and proven usability. Praised by the seller for its distinctive Lambretta sound and riding experience, it is now ready to be enjoyed by its next enthusiast keeper.

The Detail
- Attractive blue-and-white colour scheme
- Casing was split apart for the first time in 50+ years, The driveside was like new. Where ever possible original parts were use for bottom end rebuild but fitted with an upgraded GP150 topend to give greater power.
- The series one flywheel magneto housing replace with the later type which enabled a mazuchelli GP crank to be fitted
- 22mm jettex carburettor and 38 mm twin tail Clubman exhaust system finished, the top end rebuild and a 12v electronic kit with GP flywheel, Ducati coil regulator completed the upgrade
