The Appeal
The G15 was Ginetta’s 15th design but the first to really hit the spot with customers. With 800 built it remains the firm’s most successful model. And with good reason - it looks great and its Lotus-like ‘lightness’ focus makes the most of its agile rear-drive Imp underpinnings.
The continued hill climb and racing success of these pretty little cars proves just what a good package it is. Here is a chance to join that rarified club with a well specified late model G15 that has been prepared for competition and races successfully. It features a high specification, built around a specially prepared 1,010cc 100bhp engine.
The car has been in the same family since the 1980s. It was initially used as a daily driver before its transformation into a hill climb weapon began in the mid Noughties. The full specification list is provided below. We’re told that it was campaigned for seven years until 2012 when it was dry stored due to bereavement. It’s been largely unused since then, but as you can seen the photos it has certainly not been neglected.
The car will need some checks and possibly recommissioning. Whether you decide to hit the hill climbs or just enjoy a tasty road weapon, this sought-after G15 has the condition and spec to make any drive exciting.
The vendor says:
“This Ginetta has been in our family since the mid 1980s. Originally brought for day to day transport, it was then passed down a generation for a milestone birthday and that’s when the transformation began! The most noticeable one being the colour, from Moonstone white to Diablo Red. It was lovingly restored by 2005 and won Best Imp Based Vehicle in the annual Imp Show, Dorset '05. As time allowed serious high spec modifications began. The unnecessary heavy interior was taken out, along with the passenger seat. So now it was ready for competing in Hill Climbing events. For 7 years it was regularly trailered to competitions across the country and driven to local shows.
“Sadly, due to the passing of the last owner in 2012, it has been housed in a garage, fluids drained, battery disconnected and covered. Now the time has come for it to be used and enjoyed by its next owner.”
