The appeal
Across its seven generations, produced from the 1960s through to the 1980s, the Mercury Cougar has always sat halfway between a big, luxurious personal coupe and a snarling muscle car. The third generation offered more comfort and space than its predecessors, while retaining the sporty styling that was gradually toned down on later versions.
This bespoke build takes the concept even further by pairing assertive style with high-level performance. Initially fitted with a 351 ci V8, this Cougar now features a huge 460 ci (7.5-litre) V8, the work of specialist Rudy Wessely at Performance Products. Fed by a Quick Fuel Technology carburettor and boosted with a supercharger, this big block stroker forms the heart of a €32,000 preparation, which also includes upgrades to the gearbox, differential and exhaust system.
In terms of looks, the car wears a dark metallic red paint, Ridler five-spoke chrome wheels, and an interior fully reconditioned in red and black, finished with “diamond quilted” stitching.
With just 8,000 km covered since completion, this Cougar is presented in excellent condition. The seller states that it runs and drives perfectly. For fans of American cars, this is a great opportunity to own a genuine showpiece.007.JPG11.47 MB
