The appeal
By turning its Beta coupé into a tempting Spyder 2+2, Lancia—assisted by Pininfarina—came up with a truly original car. At the time, few small sports coupés offered a removable roof of the Targa type, an architectural feature usually reserved for prestigious grand tourers.
Its construction, entrusted to Carrozzeria Zagato using a complex process, explains its high cost. Despite this, the model enjoyed genuine commercial success, with around 2,800 examples equipped with the 2.0-litre engine produced for the European market.
This example, registered in France, is a Series 2 car, identifiable by its modernised cabin and improved ergonomics. It’s powered by the 115bhp 2.0-litre version of the famous Lampredi twin-cam engine. Finished in an elegant red exterior paint paired with a beige interior, this Beta Spyder remains broadly faithful to its original specification, except for a few rally-inspired items—most notably additional spotlights and supplementary instrumentation.
The seller presents the car as sound and easy to use. A recent MOT is provided to offer total transparency to its future owner. An excellent base to enjoy one of the most elegant and charming Lancias of the 1970s straight away, while still keeping the option to continue improving it over time.IMG20250604085256.jpg4.68 MB

✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, meaning that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is sold “as is”, on a “take it or leave it” basis, and with no warranty. Photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only and it’s standard practice to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final offer or submission price, depending on what is specified in the listing.
✓ We want the transaction to go smoothly, just like you do, and that’s why cars and motorcycles registered in the UK and offered for sale on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they show no basic insurance database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to any financial charge, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of a total loss claim at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee a vehicle’s status, and it’s always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for the removal or delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may incur additional customs duties and import taxes. If you’d like, we can recommend a third-party transport company to assist you. For more details and to speak to the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
