  • It has been with the current owners for roughly three years
  • During this time, it hasn’t needed much
  • There does appear to be a set of new leads and a new distributor cap under the bonnet

The Interior

  • Inside this Spitfire is in rather good condition 
  • The two seats fitted are in great condition 
  • Finished in a houndstooth pattern they are very eye-catching 
  • The material does appear to have any large areas of undue wear and tear 
  • They are also fairly comfortable to sit in
  • To match the black seats the carpets are trimmed in the same colour 
  • Throughout the cabin, these carpets are presented well
  • In front of the driver is a fairly simple 3-spoke steering wheel which shows little wear 
  • To the left, you’ll find the gearstick 
  • Importantly it is fitted with overdrive which will make cruising more comfortable 
  • The dashboard appears to be void of any nasty cracks
  • Spanning the width of the interior is the well-presented wood-veneered centre console 
  • The veneer is in great condition with no signs of delamination 
  • With the roof up the interior feels very sporty, but with the roof down the interior is transformed
  • In the boot, you’ll find a tonneau cover that will cover up the entire interior 
  • The roof is very easy to put down, and then back up, so don’t worry too much about inclement weather
  • For a car of this age, you can forgive a few areas of age related wear
  • Overall, the interior is in great condition and just waiting for you to get in



The Exterior 

  • Finished in a striking orange/red this Spitfire doesn’t fly under the radar
  • Across the body panels the paint is in good conditions 
  • There are a few areas of marking on the paint 
  • However, these are isolated areas, and they shouldn’t need a re-spray 
  • A glance over the body resulted in no large or obvious areas of corrosion 
  • The chrome bumpers, front and rear, could do with a bit of TLC to bring them back to life
  • With the roof up you can see that it is in good condition 
  • There are no large rips or tears in the fabric section 
  • The plastic windows are also void of cracking 
  • The car sits on a set of well-looked-after alloys 
  • With a little bit of TLC, the exterior could be bought back to life 
  • You should be able to spend some time over the remainder of the winter perfecting the car's appearance 

The Mechanics 

  • Under the clamshell bonnet, you’ll find a lovely 4-cylinder 1500cc petrol engine 
  • On the day of the photoshoot, the car started easily from cold
  • It then drove to the location and maneuvered into position with ease 
  • The current owner did mention that, although not desperately needed, you may wish to tune the carbs 
  • You can see from the paperwork that the car has been looked after through its most recent history
  • This can also be seen in the condition of the engine bay 
  • A few new parts have been fitted, such as new leads and a distributor
  • With no electronic aids, this Spitfire takes driving back to its purest form 
  • This will allow you to enjoy every drive with the car
  • You can almost be at one with the machine, a far more engaging experience than today’s offerings 
  • Overall, the car appears to be in very good mechanical condition
