The enthusiast’s choice
Over the course of its 18-year production run, the Mercedes-Benz SL in R107 generation form has established itself as one of the greatest successes of the Star brand. Solid, elegant and remarkably well built, it appeals just as much for its manufacturing quality as for its driving comfort. The 500 SL, powered by its notably flexible 5.0-litre V8, is one of the most prestigious and strongest versions in the range. With its smooth, easy handling and comfortable cabin, it makes for an excellent grand-tourer—capable of swallowing up miles with surprising ease.
Delivered new in Germany in a configuration compliant with European specifications, this 500 SL was then based in California, where the dry climate helped preserve it well. Returned to Europe in 2013, it has since been maintained with care and benefitted from thorough inspections and servicing carried out by MRC-Technics, a Mercedes-Benz approved specialist.
This stylish R107 is distinguished by its rare original two-tone paintwork, combining Astral Silver with Graphite Grey. It has also been carefully updated to match the specifications of models produced after 1985, using original Mercedes-Benz parts exclusively. Mechanically, significant work has recently been carried out to prepare it for its next owner.WhatsApp Image 2026-03-24 at 20.39.57 (21).jpeg650.32 KB

✓ We ask that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and terms and conditions for the specific fee rates.

✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final offer price or bid amount, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to make sure the transaction runs smoothly, just like you do—and that’s why cars and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify that they have no underlying insurance database markers relating to damage or theft, and that they are not subject to any financial charge. This allows you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off following a total loss claim at the time the advert is posted on Car & Classic and provide category write-off labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it is still helpful to carry out a full vehicle history check before placing an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collection or delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may result in additional customs duties and import taxes.
