The Appeal
The final classic, original 911, the car built just before the 964 arrived, is the one that got all the benefit of Porsche’s engineering development. Equipped with the stronger 3.2L flat six engine from the 930 plus the excellent G50 5spd gearbox, these cars built from 1987 are the most reliable and usable of the early era models.
This 1987 Carrera 2 benefits from all those improvements, plus it is a classic ‘triple black’ model with matching Fuchs. It is said to be a matching numbers car across engine and chassis and is fitted with a later G50 gearbox from a 1990 model. It presents in very good condition. It carries current Revisione to May 2027, ASI certificate and is said to be in very good mechanical condition.
Here is a chance to sample the ultimate evolution of Porsche’s original air-cooled 911 before the move to 964 and 993.
