The Appeal
The Bi-Turbo's understated, linear styling concealed something truly extraordinary. The secret was revealed by its name, the world's first biturbo engine. The interior, carefully upholstered in leather, velvet and wood with great attention to detail, was also an absolute novelty at the time.
In May 1988, the 222 was launched, a slightly updated version with the 2-litre version of the V6 Alfieri engine producing 215 hp. Only 1,156 were built in the short production period, making this car a rare survivor. It is also notable for having had only one owner and the exceptionally low mileage of only 34,700 km.
The limited use has meant that it has remained extremely original and very well preserved. Elegant and full of charm in its exclusive dark metallic aquamarine colour scheme with a beige and caramel interior, this is a truly stunning example of this celebrated Maserati coupé with its dynamic and sporty styling.
It has recently been restored to shape, receiving a service and tune-up after having been used infrequently in recent years. Its originality had qualified it as a potential ASI gold plate. It will be sold with a fresh overhaul.

The Condition
- Very attractive trim with dark aquamarine metallic paint over beige velour
- Extremely original and unrestored car, with only some slight signs of ageing and use
- Photographs show some slight localised defects on the roof and underside of the doors
- Standard 14-inch alloy wheels in original, unrestored condition, with matching spare wheel
- Bodywork presents itself well, with only a few minor imperfections on the underside of the doors
- Correct and undamaged bodywork with original trim, including rear spoiler
- Exterior trim is complete and appears to be faultless
- Fitted with rather old Michelin tyres that would be preferable to replace
- Underbody is in good condition and the car will be sold with a freshly carried out technical overhaul
- Beautiful Maserati interior with beige velour seats, caramel coloured trim and wood panelling
- The cabin is very well maintained, with some signs of age on the trim and controls
- Suede headlining to match the seat upholstery
