The Appeal

The Bentley Continental R was a landmark car: the first true Bentley coupe in decades, coach-built at Mulliner Park Ward in Crewe and produced in strictly limited numbers. When it debuted in 1993, it carried the distinction of being the most expensive car in the world - a reflection of the hand-craftsmanship and engineering lavished upon each example by the Crewe plant. Today, it remains a rare and deeply impressive machine, seldom seen on the road and carrying a unique air of luxury and comfort that's impossible to replicate.

This 1993 example is the first of the revised Cosworth-engineered cars, benefiting from considerably more torque and horsepower than the earlier specification. It is unusually trimmed in Spruce Green Connolly Leather piped in contrasting St. James red, with Conifer Wilton Carpet and walnut veneer throughout, which only accentuates the car's uniquely charismatic personality.
