The Appeal
It cost £35m to drop the 300bhp 6L V12 engine into the XJ40. It was very much a labour of love because these very expensive, super-smooth cars only every sold in tiny volumes.
This car dials up the rarity. It is the elevated luxury Daimler version, of which only a very small number built for worldwide export markets. This one is amongst the last few hundred built in 1994.
Finished in handsome dark grey metallic with a beige leather interior, it is in pleasingly factory correct trim and is highly preserved. Across the interior and exterior there are few signs of its 30 years.
Recent work included a full service, including fluid replacements, new belts, and a power steering and SLS pump replacement. As recommended by the factory, the rear suspension has been upgraded to a conventional system with high-quality Bilstein shocks, With a well-preserved body and a valid technical inspection until June 2025, this Daimler Double Six is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
