The Appeal
The X300 is a popular choice amongst classic fans for its traditional lines, improved build quality and Jaguar’s tough and reliable 3.2L straight six AJ6 engine. There are plenty about, particularly in the popular Aquamarine Mica of this 1997 3.2L car.
It isn’t to be confused with some of the rather less nobly maintained examples out there. As the vendor describes below, it is a really well-kept example that presents smartly in all the usual X300 check areas such as arches, sill edges and floors. Inside, the story is the same, the high-traffic areas like the driver’s seat and footwell reflecting the car’s sub-49,000 miles from new.
The mileage is verified by MOT records and the stamped service book. It shows a run of mainly authorised dealer servicing up to June 2026. The current MOT tells a similar story, showing valid test to June 2027 with no advisories. Recent work, alongside the service, has included exhaust system repairs and localised welding. There are a few largely cosmetic minor jobs for the buyer to consider, detailed below and in the photos, but nothing that prevents immediate use.
With interest in the XJ40 picking up strongly, it surely can’t be long before its successor, a significantly improved car, follows suit. Here’s a chance to buy a low-mileage, low-keeper, well-kept example.
The vendor says:
“The car is exactly how Jaguar intended it to be. It drives effortlessly and smoothly; it's like being on a magic carpet or on a cloud. Paired with its immaculate interior, it's literally like going back in time. During my ownership, the car has been taken out for a 10-20 mile drive once or twice a week, weather dependent. Otherwise, it is kept under a cover on my driveway. The car was previously stored in a garage. Also, the aerial is fully functional and comes up and down as the car is locked and unlocked.”
