The Appeal
The C36 AMG holds a landmark position in Mercedes-Benz history as the first series-production AMG model. Built between 1993 and 1997 with a hand-assembled 3.6-litre inline-six producing 280 bhp, it married the W202 C-Class's inherent refinement with genuine performance credentials. Relatively few were sold in the UK, and well-maintained survivors are becoming increasingly scarce.
This 1997 example is finished in a special order colour, Vivianite Green Metallic, lending further distinction to an already uncommon car. It has been in the current owner's care since approximately 2014, during which time it has been garaged, used weekly, and serviced annually, we are told. A significant programme of bodywork was carried out in 2025, and mechanically, the car has benefited from a front suspension overhaul, brake upgrades, gearbox servicing, and numerous other items of attention documented with invoices. A dyno run in October 2020 recorded 272 bhp. Prospective buyers should note that there is minor rust starting at the front of the rear nearside wheel arch, and the rear tyres will need replacing in due course.
