The Appeal
It’s easy to play ‘spot the influences’ with the second generation of Toyota’s mid-engined marvel, the MR2. But that Kudos to Ferrari and Honda supercars kind of misses the point. Because this was a Toyota, it was brilliant in its own right.
In the 1990s there was nothing quite like Toyota’s mini-Ferrari 328. And this car is a chance to see why. It looks fantastic in bright red, the sculptural bodywork lightly bedecked with spoilers, while inside there is full black leather. It is the 168bhp GT-i model with a 5-speed manual box.
There can be few survivors quite like it. With less than 32,500 miles from new, it looks as if it rolled out of the showroom recently, such is the light touch of age and use. It has had just four registered keepers., The vendor says that the car was a dealer demonstrator and that the second and third keepers knew each other.
Despite the sparing use there is a generously stamped service book and thick history file. It was last serviced in April 2025. For transparency, it comes to market with a lengthy, advisory-free MOT to April 2026.

As 90s cars find new enthusiasts, the MR2 is having a moment. Here’s one of the best we think you’re likely to find.
