The Appeal
The P38 was nothing short of ambitious. Intended to take the Range Rover upmarket, these hefty off-roaders boasted an advanced Electronic Air Suspension system for a remarkable uptick in ride quality, improvements to the chassis and a swathe of trims and features. It was perfect for the discerning 4x4 fanatic, but a perfect family car too, and went some way to really raise the idea of the high-end SUV in Britain.
To this day, they're eminently capable cars, and still very popular. It's all in that 'Metro' styling, the comfortable trims and the sheer enthusiasm with which Solihull took on the design. A keystone for the marque, and one that's still very worthy of your attention.
This fine example comes to us from a long-term family ownership, accompanied by an extensive service history. It's ready and raring to go, and would take comparatively little work to bring it into real top-notch condition. The air-suspension has been converted to the more traditional spring set-up, but we expect this would be easy to reverse if the buyer desires.
