The Appeal
The Arnage was the first thoroughly new Bentley saloon for decades and is widely regarded as the last of the traditionally-built models. The simply named T was the sports version, and sporting it certainly was - at launch, it was the fastest production saloon in the world.
Just 817 Arnage T were built in RHD, and this 2002 car is amongst the first. It is handsomely finished in ‘black on black’ and features factory details such as diamond-quilted, embroidered leather, dark walnut veneers, and engine-turned aluminium trim. Its pair of keepers have amassed just 40,000 miles during the car’s 24 years.
Despite the very sparing use, the car has a very good service history. The work has been conducted by main dealers (to 2013) and then by well-regarded independent specialists like The Chelease Workshop, P&A Wood and most recently Hofmann’s of Henley. The history file shows 13 service records to June 2023. We are told that the car has been serviced again by Hofmann’s prior to sale. Other notable work includes attention to the suspension, electrics, cooling system and new tyres all round.
The Arnage has a special place in Bentley’s development, neatly blending the traditional with the technological. This very well-kept T is amongst the best that we’ve seen in a while. It will be sold with a new MOT.
