Why we love it
The Sprinter is an ideal base for a true expedition-vehicle project thanks to its generous usable volume, substantial payload and Mercedes-Benz build quality, known for toughness and long service life. However, this example goes much further: it’s a 5-ton version fitted with engageable all-wheel drive with low-range gearing, offering off-road capability that very few leisure vehicles can claim.
What particularly sets this 2021 Sprinter apart is the quality and completeness of its professional conversion. Built over two years by Oley Workshop, with joinery by Yannick De Lauw, the transformation has resulted in a genuine self-contained home on wheels. Everything is clad in maple veneer and solid maple wood, paired with maple plywood cabinetry—creating a warm, durable interior that’s perfectly suited to long stays off-grid.
The living area includes, among other things, a king-size bed, a two-zone fridge-freezer, an oven with grill, a three-burner hob, an indoor shower and dry toilets. Solar charging, diesel heating, hot-water production and the water filtration system ensure excellent self-sufficiency.
The base vehicle also benefits from an outstanding equipment level, with nearly €30,000 in factory options. Showing only 9,700 km and serviced exclusively through the Mercedes-Benz network, it’s a rare opportunity to buy an almost-new vehicle paired with a conversion carried out with exceptional care.
The seller states that “the vehicle is fully equipped and ready to go… a real advantage just before the summer holidays… fully equipped 4x4… the interior was designed and built by professionals, with beautiful finishes in solid hardwood maple, made by a talented cabinetmaker.”
The seller also adds: “The (very rare) double sliding doors provide an unobstructed view to the outside, ideal for cooking. Set up for long journeys without worrying about weight: large water tanks, etc. Open interior space (no fixed shower cabin). Indoor and outdoor retractable showers. Great interior lighting. Very little used (4 weeks), sold because of an immediate move to a location that’s difficult to access after the end of the works. Optional extras: a wooden terrace on the roof, an indoor wood stove (for enjoyment, etc.)”
The seller describes the bodywork, paint, interior and mechanicals as being in near-new condition.
