Could one be persuaded that the DBS has perhaps the cleanest lines of any post DB6 Aston Martin? Roger Moore, in the guise of Lord Brett Sinclair certainly had the edge on Tony Curtis.

What we have here is a V8. The real thing.
A 1971 matching numbers DBSV8 with the important manual transmission, of which only 120 were built, with a recently rebuilt engine using the original Bosch F. I system, by Aston Engineering in Derby, who have looked after this car for the last 20 years. The history file is enormous and there has been no expense spared in maintaining this car in fantastic condition. It also has the original factory build sheet confirming the exact specification when delivered which is as it is now. The engine rebuild (only 6000 miles ago in 2017) included uprating to 5. 6l, bigger valves and porting which delivered 350bhp on the dyno and consequently this DBS drives extremely well indeed. To match the higher output the injection pump has been re-calibrated and it also has a bigger late V8 radiator and factory 'Rocket' stainless exhaust system which sounds superb, the exhaust note rising to a true V8 Aston 'howl' at about 3500rpm up to a very useful 5500 - this car revs much more freely than a standard car and pulls hard. A proper driver's Aston from the last days of the DB era these cars have the cleanest lines and nice touches from its DB5/ 6 heritage such as a fly-off handbrake.
Originally purchased by the late Hamer Boot (then Chairman of Henry Boot Construction) the originality of this DBS has been verified by his son Jamie Boot, the current Chairman of the same firm who also drove the car when new in 1971. Mr Boot specified Oystershell with black leather interior and this is the only example ever made with that combination making it very rare indeed. The interior is nicely patinated - no sign of new leather to spoil the originality of this car. It had a full external repaint in 2016 and so the paintwork looks stunning in the sunlight - one of the nicest colours that Aston ever used in period.
The wheels are pristine and have been shod with the latest Avon CR6ZZ fast road/ competition rubber which look and feel absolutely right. Handling has been sorted too with uprated heavy duty HBE anti-roll bars and telescopic dampers. On the road it feels tight and is a joy to drive, the ZF 'dog leg' 'box working nicely through each gear. All instrumentation is working correctly including the period 'town and country' horns and correct Marchal driving lights, and there are no items needing attention, the car having been recently fully serviced by Aston Engineering.
