2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55
Though the younger brethren of this 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 may shout about their AMG performance injection with more flamboyant wings, splitters and badging, don’t let the subtle looks of this coupé fool you.
Under the bonnet is a hand-built 5. 4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine driving the rear wheels. The engine specification is impressive, with forged connecting rods and pistons, forged billet steel crankshaft, uprated intake manifold and cylinder heads and lightweight camshafts. These lesser seen AMGs also boast uprated suspension, revised bodywork and more while retaining typical Mercedes-Benz quality.
This particular example is specified in deep black with two tone brown and black leather, and has covered some 139, 627 miles today. Though the bodywork and overall condition wouldn't indicate this mileage, the car’s thorough maintenance over the years has resulted in a great example that is a riot to drive to this day.
The original engine was completely replaced under warranty by Mercedes-Benz in 2003 at 28, 587 miles, and the car has a fully stamped service book from either Mercedes-Benz or specialists. The car was serviced in October 2020 at 139, 448 miles and was MOT tested in July 2020 with no advisories.
A fine example of an unassuming AMG coupé, now available for a fraction of the retail cost new.
