The Appeal
The FB-series Vauxhall VX 4/90, introduced in October 1961, was the performance flagship of the Victor range. Equipped with twin carburettors, an alloy cylinder head, servo-assisted front disc brakes, a four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox and full instrumentation including a tachometer, it offered a sporting alternative to the standard Victor. Produced only as a saloon and now believed to survive in vanishingly small numbers, it ranks among the rarest post-war sporting Vauxhalls.
This particular example was registered new in 1963 and is finished in Green over a Cream leather interior. It has been the subject of a comprehensive restoration by the respected specialists Heritage Classics of Teesside, reportedly at a cost exceeding £40,000. A gold plaque under the bonnet bears the restorer's name, and the vendor states that every component, mechanical and cosmetic, has been refurbished to a very high standard. A photographic record documenting the restoration accompanies the car. Since its completion, it has been kept in a private collection and museum environment with minimal use, and the vendor reports that it presents very well both inside and out.
