The Appeal
It’s certainly rarer than a Mk2, and there is a case to argue that the Turner-engined, Daimler-badged model is better too. That small block 2.5L V8 is a lovely, characterful, burbly unit that is the perfect accompaniment to summery countryside drives with family and friends.
This 1964 21/2 Litre V8 sports one of the best colour combinations for these cars. The gunmetal grey metallic over burgundy leather is the result of a mid-90s refresh undertaken around five years after the vendor acquired this car in 1989. Other investment has included gearbox work. The seller regularly serviced it until it was placed into storage around 25 years ago.
The quality of that storage means that it remains in surprisingly good condition. The panels fit well and the main indication of age appears to be some age to the paintwork, which buyers can check in the photos. We are told that the engine turns but does not start.
The car comes with a huge file of history, including old tax discs, invoices and MOTs. It is sold as a non-running project. There is scope to conduct a full restoration or simply get it running and enjoy the characterful cosmetics. For the right buyer this is an interesting project with a beautiful and sonorous British saloon to enjoy on completion.
