The Appeal
Some cars just ooze solidity and reassurance and none more so than Volvo’s 120-Series, known as the ‘Amazon.’ Built to withstand harsh winters and make mincemeat of snow and ice, these are cars for classic touring, historic rallying or simply pootling about and enjoying the comfort.
This 1966 example could do all three, helped along by its upgrade to more pokey 2L B20 power. Looking very pretty in red with a black vinyl interior, it is a very usable and reliable example that benefits from a healthy raft of recent work by the current keeper.
Using parts supplied by Volvo specialists, the car has had recent cosmetic improvements plus work to the clutch system, brakes and a new radiator. It is said to drive well and looks perfect for winter - and summer - motoring.
