The Appeal
It goes to show that not all good things turn out the way you planned them. The Mini Moke is a case in point. Based on the Mini, the Alec Issigonis-designed Moke was originally designed as a military vehicle, an application it was found to be woefully inadequate for. However, the Moke proved brilliant fun to drive and an excellent "beach car", much like the Citroën Méhari, Vw-based Meyers Manx, and the Ghia-built Fiat Jolly.
This 1971 example is a genuine, one-owner 1971 Mini Moke, meticulously maintained from new and fully restored to an exceptional standard. Originally from Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe, this Moke later moved with its owner to South Africa, where it remained in a dry, rust-free climate.
The vendor tells us:
"This is not just another restored classic. The original owner purchased this Moke in the same year his son was born, creating a deep emotional connection to the car. His passion for it never faded, and when the time came for restoration, no expense was spared in bringing it back to perfection. Now, after a lifetime of careful ownership, it is in true turnkey condition—ready to drive and enjoy immediately."

Real Mini Mokes are getting hard to find, especially corrosion-free example, not subject to botched repairs or questionable modifications. This one family-owned example has everything going for it.
