The appeal

Designed to build on the already huge success of the 'Neue Klasse' saloons, the E12 was a real success. It ushered in an entirely new design philosophy for the Munich-based brand. Every subsequent 5 Series has retained the spirit initiated here.

It established itself in a highly competitive market and quickly became part of the collective imagination: executive comfort combined with sporty performance has become one of BMW's pillars.

This 1978 Series II model is a true icon in the classics category. The 528i is one of the E12's most popular models, and this one is a perfect ambassador for it, not least thanks to its rare period modification: a Zender body kit that perfectly complements the saloon's already elegant lines. Equipped with a 2.8-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox, this car represents an excellent basis for an ambitious restoration.
