The Appeal
1979 was the Camaro’s best-selling year, with nearly 300,000 buyers flocking to showrooms to experience the car’s ‘hugger’ style, so-named for its wide, low stance and ability to hold the corners.
This well-preserved and original ‘79 spent its life in California until 2017, when it arrived in the Czech Republic. Finished in period-popular bronze metallic with a light tan interior, it is in good order thanks to its life in the sun. Despite the power of those rays, the interior fittings such as the dashboard are said to be free of the usual cracks and fading.
The car left the Van Nuys factory with the 305CI V8, but, according to the seller, is now fitted with the larger 5.7L V8 350CI motor. We’re told that it is registered as a historic vehicle and has been subject to local technical passport checks in 2017 and 2022. The current inspection is valid to May 2027.
The car carries current Californian title. We are told that European duties and VAT have been paid and that European registration is pending.
The vendor says:
“This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro is a highly authentic, garage-kept survivor that perfectly balances vintage character with reliable performance. Originally a California car, it remains factory-standard and benefits from a "clean" history and consistent maintenance.
“It is a pleasure to drive—the professionally tuned 5.7L V8 runs exceptionally smooth, and the car feels "tight" and responsive on the road. It offers the classic American muscle experience without the headaches of a project car, as it is fully road-ready.
“The best part about this Camaro is its superb preservation. Because it has been exclusively garaged and carefully refreshed, it lacks the typical wear and sun damage found in other veterans. It feels fresh, honest, and mechanically sorted—a turn-key classic for a collector who values authenticity and immediate enjoyment.”
