When it comes to the world of the off-roader, there's no shortage of love for the Land Rover or Jeep, but you'll be hard-pressed to find an enthusiast more dedicated than those for the Toyota Land Cruiser. Toyota was always going to come out on top when it came to durability - their cars are solid enough, but their off-roaders often went to the Australian outback for testing and came out with experience from one of the harshest operating environments in the world.
Of all the Cruisers, it's perhaps the FJ40 that's best known. Introduced in 1960, these rugged but nicely styled 4x4s were - and still are - one of the greatest achievements when it came to taking a wagon off the asphalt. Needless to say, they were soon picked up for all manner of upgrades, modifications and body styles, and thanks to Toyota maintaining parts availability, they're a surprisingly easy classic to take care of.
This fabulous example comes to us from Australia, where the Land Cruisers often find their home. Rebuilt before arriving on British soil, the original straight-6 has been replaced with an 'Iron Lion' - the Holden Red V8 - which offers an extra 40hp and has made the already rugged wagon a real brute!image.png3.1 MB
