The Appeal
Can it really be summer if you haven’t spotted a R107 convertible out and about? These cars are the epitome of relaxed, warm days and amongst the most perennially popular of open-top classics.
The later 300SLs got a new 3L straight six and durable galvanised bodywork to add to the car’s long list of highly engineered attributes. If you’re looking for one, there are plenty to choose from, but we think this car clearly stands out.
It is finished in rare and fetching Blue Gren metallic and has covered few miles for a R107. In recent years it has been in dry storage but was extensively recommissioned and overhauled in late 2024 prior to sale. This work was carried out by a well-regarded specialist, Farringtons, and cost £8,500. Since the car was structurally sound, the work focussed on bringing the mechanicals up to standard, including work to the fuel and cooling systems. We’ve provided copies of the invoices for you to inspect in the photos.
The car has had just five keepers in its life, the current one since 1999. In very good condition with a cabin that belies the car’s 37 years, it comes to market with the added reassurance of a lengthy, advisory-free MOT to November 2025.
