The Appeal

The Rover 800 Coupé was Rover's flagship grand tourer of the 1990s, a hand-finished, limited-production model that stood apart from the more common saloons and fastbacks. Just 6,448 Coupés were produced between 1992 and 1998, and the 820i Turbo variant, powered by the 2.0-litre T-Series turbocharged engine producing 180 PS through a five-speed manual gearbox, was among the least common of all. Enthusiasts and owners' clubs generally agree that only several hundred examples were built.

This 1994 example was originally delivered new in Italy, finished in Caribbean Blue Pearlescent Metallic over cream leather with burr walnut veneer trim. It was serviced by I.D.E.A. Auto S.r.l. in Pavia during its Italian ownership, with four recorded dealer services between 1994 and 1998, before being imported to the Netherlands in 2018. It has since formed part of a private collection and reportedly been driven sparingly.

It retains its original Rover owner's manual, service and maintenance booklet, warranty documentation and various original documents. Now Dutch-registered, this rare left-hand-drive 820i Turbo Coupé is an interesting piece of 1990s British motoring.
