The Appeal

The R129 was the last of a particular type of Mercedes-Benz, one that combined the firm’s traditional engineering-led approach with the crisp, handsome lines of Bruno Sacco. No wonder these cars are perennials of the classic scene, as much effortless weekend cruiser as cherished classics.

This car will appeal to anyone who knows their way around these models. It is the later facelift car with the updated 3.2L V6 engine, a powerplant that is both eager - there is 225bhp on tap - and surprisingly economical The vendor reports this car achieving an average 35mpg on a recent 400 mile trip to Goodwood.

Classically finished in popular Brilliant Silver with matching hard top and black leather cabin, this is a very well preserved car. It has covered less than 64,000 documented miles in the hands of only five keepers.

Each of those owners has kept the servicing up to date. The book shows a run of regular servicing to 2012 and then annually via invoices to 2017. Between 2017 and 2024 it was little used. When the vendor acquired the car in November 2024 it received £1,000 of servicing and associated work. It is only for sale reluctantly due to a change of circumstances.

In fine condition and wearing its 25 years very lightly, this is a very tidy and desirable version of the popular R129. It comes to market with the transparency of a lengthy MOT to November 2025 with no advisories.
