The Appeal

The Lexus LS tends to garner the headlines as the ‘Japanese Mercedes,’ but in the 1990s there was another, equally well-engineered and arguably even more luxurious alternative to the three-pointed star - the Nissan President. The third generation of the firm’s halo saloon dialled up the quality, engineering and luxury, yet was virtually half the price of an equivalent S Class.

The car’s sober three-box styling suited the understated style of the 90s, when executives preferred to fly under the motoring radar.
