The Appeal
You could buy an E92 M3, but really, secretly, you want this car don’t you? Less shouty, more cossetting and more suited to long distances, yet just as quick, Alpina’s subtle B3 is one of the greatest and rarest super coupes of the last 20 years.
Just 274 B3 E92s were built, of which less than 100 were sold in the UK as RHD models. As this Alpina Blau Metallic II car proves, the joy of the B3 is that it is barely different from a standard E92 coupe, a point that the B3 leans into - only a tiny boot badge and bespoke alloys are the giveaways.
It is car number 109 and has had only four keepers from new. The seller is a serial Alpina collector who acquired it in 2010. He tells us that of the five Alpinas he’s owned, this car is one of his top two.
It is in very good condition, thanks in part to his enthusiastic care but also the low mileage which is well below the average for a 2008 car. It has been maintained correctly and is reported to be entirely factory standard and in great mechanical health. That is a point underlined by the MOT which runs to January 2026 with no advisories.
This B3 feels like a nailed-on future classic. One to buy and thoroughly enjoy.
The vendor says:
“I have owned 5 Alpina cars and this one is in my top 2. Great fun to drive. A Woolf in sheep's clothing, equally good around town or out on the open road.”
