The Appeal
In a drive to appeal to new customers, the California revived an old name and a classic Ferrari idea - the beautiful front-engined convertible. While the packaging and name echoed the original 250 GT California Spyder, it knocked off a series of Ferrari firsts: first front mid-engined V8, first folding hard top and first 7spd dual clutch automatic.
That engine, the 4.3L 460bhp F136 V8, is a peach, and the 7spd Getrag 7DCL750 lightning quick. Not, we suspect, judging from the condition, that this very tody early California has been driven in such a fashion. Its Nero Daytona paintwork and supple tan leather cabin are in extremely good condition. The car was factory-supplied with over €33,000 options, including desirable upgrades like the Daytona seats, 20in alloys and carbon fibre wheels with LED features.
The history file shows that it has been properly looked after over the years, primarily by main dealers. In 2023, over €17,643, the car received a major service and overhaul by Munsterhuis Sportscars Ferrari. It has covered few miles since that work was completed.
The California is the all-weather coupe/convertible with the character to out-smart any rival. This 2009 car has the specification and condition to appeal to discerning buyers. image.png4.81 MB

The vendor notes:
“The California already came with electric seats as standard in most European specifications. What Ferrari charged extra for was the "Full Electric Seats" package, which added additional adjustment functions and memory settings beyond the standard electric seats. This is why it appears on the Ferrari options list.”
As an antidote to the more common Rosso Corsa, this car’s Nero Daytona paintwork, a very expensive factory option, is both tasteful and works well with the tan leather interior. It was nicely detailed by its first keeper, who clearly had deep pockets to specify the array of options that added over €33,000 to the list price.
In the intervening 17 years the car has been used regularly but sparingly, yet the signs of use are light. The optional 20in alloys show light kerbing, which would be an easy fix.

The California is technically a front mid-engined car, which imbues it with excellent weight balance and, naturally, great handling. The V8 engine is Ferrari’s hand-built 4.3L F136 V8, which puts 460bhp through the rear wheels.
As can be seen above, this car has been well maintained throughout its life, including a sizeable invoice in 2023 for work across the mechanics and other areas by a Ferrari main dealer. It has covered few miles since.
The last Belgian APK expired in August 2025. There were no advisories on the last test and, again, it has been little used in the intervening time. image.png3.29 MB
