The Appeal

The original X5 set the template for what a SUV should be. All the second generation had to do was make it better, and it did. The E70 updated the styling and added more engine options, notably the 3L twin turbo 306bhp diesel motor of this xDrive 40d M Sport.

With more than adequate power plus decent economy, this 2010 car is one of those ‘head and heart’ purchases. It is finished in the popular combination of Sapphire Black with privacy glass and black wheels and trim plus Black Dakota leather. The high specification includes wood trim and a panoramic roof.

As a very low mileage car with only five keepers from new, it is in very good condition inside and out. The maintenance records show a run of regular servicing to May 2025, most of it by main dealers or specialists. In late 2024, it received around £1,500 of engine work by BMW, including replacing the sump.

With advisory-free MOT to September 2025, this is a very tidy family wagon that will also prove entertaining to drive.
