One of the last examples supplied to the UK market and the finest available with a great colour combination, every factory option fitted and just 12, 000 miles recorded from new. Finished in metallic Diamond Blue with Biscuit leather the car features leather rear seat, air conditioning, cruise control, headlamp wash/ wipe, outside temperature gauge, heated seats, anti theft system, Becker Grand Prix stereo, orthopaedic seats and airbag steering wheel.
The car was ordered from Mercedes dealer Rose and Young in Surrey by a loyal local customer and friend of the garage owner. It was delivered in January 1989 and covered just 100 miles in the next three months before being sold by the highly regarded Bramley Garage in Surrey to a regular customer based in nearby Farnham.
In 1992 Bramley repurchased the car from them and resold it to Dr Glees based in Richmond, at this time the recorded mileage was 2, 609 miles. Dr Glees was clearly excited by his purchase, the history file includes a photograph of him and his wife receiving their new car together with script detailing the handover conversation. He retained the Mercedes for the next seventeen years, looking after it very carefully and using it sparingly in fine weather only, the mileage rising to just 11, 000 miles during his ownership.
Dr Glees sold the Mercedes to a local car enthusiast who had wanted such a car for some time. Following purchase he sent the car to nearby Mercedes dealer Puttocks in Guildford for a full inspection and service, every item requiring attention was dealt with, an invoice on file amounting to £4, 500 details the work completed.
We purchased the car in June 2010 from this last owner who covered barely 100 miles. We sold the car within a fortnight of it arriving to the first enthusiast who saw it. They have retained the Mercedes until now and have covered just 800 miles in their six years of ownership.
Today the Mercedes remains in unmarked virtually as new original condition in all respects. It comes with a full ownership and maintenance history beginning with the original bill of sale and all books, keys and tools are present.
The specification, mileage and condition of this car really do make it a very special example of its type.
