When Sir William Lyons merged Jaguar’s range topping Mk X with the 3. 8 litre Mk II Sports Saloon in 1963 he spawned the Jaguar S-Type and an entire generation of decadent and powerful sports saloons that would continue for the next 44 years.

A Sporting Grand Tourer that in 1964 Car and Driver touted as being a “sports limousine, if there ever was one”, the Type S was available in either 3. 4 or 3. 8 litre, the bodywork was inspired to the Mk II in design but featured greater storage space and a higher roof line making for a much more commodious and comfortable car.

Mechanically, the Type S is similar to the E-Type using the same state-of-the-art independent rear suspension and engine, powering the car to a top speed of 202 km/ h, not far off the world’s fastest production car at the time, the Iso Grifo.

Offered here is a stunning 1967 Jaguar S Type presented in Opalescent Silver Blue and optioned with a 4-speed manual gearbox and a 3. 4 Litre motor.

The subject of a sympathetic restoration between 2007 to 2009, the body had been taken back to bare metal and repainted in period correct Opalescent Silver Blue, the engine and gearbox re-built, as well as the interior expertly re-trimmed using original factory hide with polished walnut and deep pile carpets with totally correct and refurbished dash instrumentation.

This S-Type has had been fitted with a few tasteful upgrades which include overdrive, power steering and it also been fitted with a retro-style R134 air-conditioning which is fully functional and ice-cold.

Accompanying this fantastic example is its original Jaguar Periodic Maintenance book and workshop manual along with a history file detailing its mechanical and restoration works carried out on the Jaguar for the past 12 years.

A place to hang the pipe and slippers and don your leather driving gloves and Herringbone wool cap to thread some winding weekend roads this Type S is Sir William Lyons’ vision of Grace, Space and Pace in three dimensions.
