The Riley 4/ 72 has now become a very rare classic and in this majestic colour combination they are now an exceptionally rare breed. This one which are we are now pleased to offer for sale comes in Colorado Red and Dove Grey and its bodywork is in very nice order indeed. As the photographs show the car's paintwork still bears a deep impressive shine and the two-tone paintwork together with the car's extravagant lines and well-maintained chromework all add up to a remarkably handsome car.
The car's interior is in similar fine order, with striking red leather seats and wall-to-wall carpets to match. There is no sun damage to the dahsboard and the wood trim has stood the test of time none the worse for wear. The roof lining is also sqeaky clean. The seats are incredibly luxurious and comfortable by today's standards but for us the best feature is the instrument cluster, sharp dials and unmarked glass, everything at a glance. These Rileys really were the best of the Farina family cars in their day.
Inside the immaculate engine bay sits a 1600cc twin-carburettor engine, and those twin carbs gave plenty of extra power, marking the Riley out from the competition. The synchromesh four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive box delivers smooth and decisive gear changes. Ride quality is excellent all round, helped by the car's anti-roll bars and improved suspension.
