Peugeot 205 GTI 1. 6 - Phase 1
For sale a very nicely restored Phase 1 205 GTI 1. 6. This car is very close to being a carbon copy of the car on the Peugeot factory launch brochure.
Due to absence of unnecessary electrical gimmicks this very car is as light as the GTIs ever came out. Lightness, a revy engine and a short geared box on a country road is a driving nirvana. Take this from someone who also owns an R8 and a D8 Cosworth.
The restoration starting point was a well kept car which had been in a single family since 1991. During the restoration and my 5 year stewardship the list of replaced or refreshed parts became as long as the ones which remained from 1987 (restoration pictures & parts list available on demand). During the journey two other good 205's were gutted for their absolutely best generic parts like latch receivers etc. which were then moved to the GTI.
As a token of the quality of the restoration, the GTI was inspected for period correctness & granted a certificate for it (Museoajoneuvo). Also the Nordics' largest technical magazine (Tekniikan Maailma 16A/ 2021) made a feature article of this car in their classics car series (article available on demand).
While this has been my teenage years' dream car, now it is time to move this car to the next custodian while my journey continues with my next restorations.
