Here we have for sale a 1988 Mercedes Benz R107 500SL finished in Diamond Blue Metallic, pleasingly paired with Blue Check Cloth interior and Dark Blue Soft Top, which makes for an attractive combination. Optional extras fitted when new include a Limited Slip Differential, Cruise Control and a Fire Extinguisher.
CONDITION
This 500SL was most recently part of a collection belonging to a true Mercedes Benz enthusiast, which includes every generation of SL from the 1950s through to the present day. Supplied by us to the current owner in 2016, it’s unsurprising to learn that it is presented in superb condition inside and out, having seen limited use in that time.
It’s clear that the car has been maintained and stored correctly during this period, nicely evidenced by the original factory soft top, still in fine condition unlike many which have cracked or perished whilst in
storage.
HISTORY
We’ve known this car for over a decade and in that time, unlike us, it hasn’t aged a bit. That’s largely down to its low usage, but our workshop inspection confirms that this 500SL is in great condition, cosmetically and mechanically.
SUMMARY
When a car has formed part of a collection as impressive as the one we mention here, it’s reassuring to know that whilst it may not have been driven as much as we would have liked it has been maintained in the correct way to preserve the car in time-warp style, ready for the next owner to get out there and put some miles on it.
