Reference to the E-Type silhouette is, in fact difficult to dispute, although the XK series Jaguar is certainly not without its own merit. 300bhp V8, effortless high speed cruising, supple and yet taught road handling, wonderfully appointed cabin, a beautifully resolved body shape, and undeniable road presence… in pretty much any company. And to my eyes, the outgoing model, denoted by an S and a white-badged growler, is perhaps the most resolved edition XK8. The 4. 2 engine is robust. The body kit and split rim Sepang alloys muscular. And the cabin offers what Jaguar design director Ian Callum called 'a bespoke interior feel'.
With 32k warranted miles, our car is finished in virtually unmarked Satin Silver Metallic coachwork, and similarly fresh Ivory hide and Elm veneer. Unblemished history of maintenance with Jaguar main workshops, and one Jaguar specialist, new Pirelli tyres, and a fresh MOT complete the package.
