Alvis TA14 3 Position Drophead Coupe (Carbodies)
The TA 14 was the first car produced by Alvis after WW2 and was available as a
four door sports saloon by Mulliners of Birmingham or as a stylish two door, three
position, drophead coupe built by Tickford or Carbodies.
Our 1948 Carbodies example has been in the same fastidious ownership since
1971. The engine was rebuilt in 1986 by Peter Whenman (Alvis, Invicta and
Lagonda specialist) and has covered approximately 8, 000 miles since.
The body was stripped in 1990 by The Vehicle Restoration Company (West
Sussex) and received new woodwork (replacement offside sill rail & bulkhead
section, replacement near side sill rail and boot lid), body panels (Nearside &
offside doors, outer sills, inner sills and rear wings) and was finished in Old
English off-white.
During this period the Alvis also received a new red leather interior, German
Rivenweave black hood with West of England Tweed lining and many components
were re-chromed.
The restoration has stood the test of time superbly and the TA is the epitome of
post war elegance. Ideally suited for the Goodwood Revival and UK/ European
touring we recommend viewing in order to fully appreciate the charm and quality
of this classic coupe.
