The Attractions
When the updated R75/5 came on the market in 1972, it caused much more of a stir than might have been expected for a relatively conventional boxer twin. The new, smaller fuel tank, often compared to an Art Deco toaster because of its abundance of chrome, was disliked by purists, who felt it made the classic boxer layout too conspicuous.
With hindsight, today all this controversy seems frankly a bit exaggerated. The R75/5 is not simply a great motorbike, it is an exceptional motorbike: robust, capable, solid and timeless, it represents to perfection that unrepeatable era when German motorbikes were particularly appreciated by the most experienced and demanding motorcyclists.
This 1972 example is truly exceptional. Mechanically completely original, it presents itself very well and represents a wonderful opportunity to get behind the wheel of a classic German motorbike of great historical significance.30E03FB0-6B91-43D7-B898-C9FDECCE3DC6.jpeg1.09 MB
