The Appeal

Owing to their perennial popularity, we see a fair few Type 2 Volkswagens at Car & Classic but seldom do we encounter two alike. That's because their owners tend to make them their own, exercising their creativity in some rather novel ways.

As well as being subtly lowered, equipped with a rather fetching set of JBW alloys and painted in a custom two-tone scheme, this 1978 Type 2 features something rather unique - a panoramic glass roof. This feature makes it a delight to travel in and there's seating for at least six. The fresh paintwork in Porsche Gulf Blue and Old English White not only enhances its visual appeal but also pays homage to two classic colour automotive hues.

This VW underwent a full restoration in 2023, with a significant investment of £32,000. The new (reconditioned) engine has clocked less than 1,000 miles, ensuring reliable performance for years to come and looking exceptionally smart inside under the rear decklid.
