The Appeal
In 1985, if you had the equivalent of $150,000 to spare, and you were looking for an executive limousine, there really was no alternative to Mercedes-Benz’ W126 SEL. These longwheelbase V8s were engineered to perfection.
All of which likely explains why this 1985 500SEL has survived so well. It has covered just 154,000 kms from new and looks barely half of its 40 years. Smartly finished in dark grey metallic with full black leather interior, it would make a great daily driver or weekend treat.
The car is now registered in Spain where the seller tells us that it has had just two keepers. Said to run and drive very well, it is a particularly nice version of these well-built saloons.
